I study the neural mechanisms of transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS), a non-invasive brain stimulation technique that passes a mild current to the head through scalp electrodes. The goal of my research is to understand how this mild electric field affects neural activity in the visual system. To do so, I look at the neural responses in animals as well as cognitive behaviors in healthy human under the effect of tACS. I believe knowledges on the neural mechanisms of tACS are critical for better understanding its effects as well as for improving our choice of parameters in the application.
